What If Ears Can Close
I’ve often found myself yearning for the ability to shut out the hurtful words that echo in my ears. It’s as if I wish my ears could act as a fortress, closing off the painful sounds that pierce through the silence. And sometimes, I’ve dreamt of tongues twisting, turning into knots that prevent certain words from being spoken — recognizing that some things are better left unsaid.
Yet, there’s a realization that unfolds like the petals of a delicate flower. Everything, every word, every experience, happens for a reason. Our ears, sensitive to both the sweet and salty melodies, serve a purpose. They guide us through the symphony of life, helping us discern between the harmonious and the discordant notes.
Memories are meant to endure. They’re not just a record of our past mistakes but also a source of wisdom, a reminder to savour the lessons learned.
And as I contemplate the purpose of our mouths, it becomes clear that they are more than just instruments of speech. They are tools for expressing the unsaid, for seeking out the missing pieces in the puzzle of our emotions. Through our words, we bridge gaps and mend wounds.
The eyes, those windows to the soul, bear witness to the harsh realities of this world. They unveil its cruelties and unveil the beauty that coexists. It’s a paradoxical journey — to see the darkness and the light, to navigate through joy and sorrow.
Yet, at the end of the day, I’ve come to realize that the true test of life lies not in the closing of ears or the twisting of tongues. It lies in our ability to forget and forgive, to let go of the burdens that weigh us down.
There have been moments when I felt on the verge of failure, and times when the weight of the world seemed too much to bear. But in those moments, the true essence of life is revealed — the ability to rise above, to find strength in vulnerability, and to, ultimately, choose love over bitterness.
So, as I navigate the test of life, I strive not to close my ears or twist my tongue but to open my heart — to forget, to forgive, and to neglect the negativity that threatens to pull me under. In the simplicity of these choices lies the profound beauty of living a life filled with compassion and understanding.
